Welcome to the Tarpon Springs High School
Music Conservatory for the Arts - formerly the Leadership and Music
Conservatory. We are proud that our program recently earned countywide
magnet status within the Pinellas District Schools. Our accomplished
choral program will join the instrumental music program in the new
North County magnet program. For information on applying to the
magnet program, visit the Pinellas
County Schools magnet program page.
I encourage you to take
a look at this unique educational opportunity and what the Leadership
Conservatory for the Arts has to offer YOU. We have designed the
Leadership and Music Education curriculum to include something for
everyone whether you play an instrument or not. There are course
offerings for the student who:
- Desires to develop leadership skills and participate
in courses that specifically focus on the development of the individual.
- Desires to perform as an elite member of one
of our "nationally accomplished" musical ensembles.
- Desires to learn to play a musical instrument.
- Desires to learn to compose music and work
with the latest software and technology.
- Desires to dance and would like to improve
their skills as part of a World Class performance ensemble.
Becoming a member of our TSHS Leadership Conservatory
for the Arts can benefit you as an individual in so many ways. For
those of you who are just entering high school, our organization
can become an instant family of friends and help make a somewhat
scary transition so much easier. For everyone involved, the skills
you learn in our leadership and music education program to achieve
quality performance levels are the same skills that will make you
a successful individual no matter what you choose to do in life.
The members of TSHS Leadership Conservatory for the Arts are totally
committed to self-discipline, individual responsibility, and excellence.
I am excited about all the wonderful opportunities the Tarpon Springs
High School Leadership Conservatory for the Arts has to offer our
students. Over the past few years, our ensembles have had the privilege
to perform on a national level in ten different states before and
in front of more than a million people.
Furthermore, we are very proud that Conservatory graduates have
made up the majority of the top ten percent of every graduating
senior class for the past 13 years and the overwhelming majority
of them graduate with some type of a music or academic scholarship.
We have graduated students who have gone on to attend and graduate
from Yale University, Tufts University, Wharton School of Business,
Annapolis Naval Academy, DePaul University, Embry Riddle University,
and every major University in the State of Florida.
Music education is a vital part of our formal education and personal
development. Please visit our Music Advocacy
page to learn more about what you can do to support music education
in our schools.
If you have any questions or need further assistance
in becoming a member or would like to become a corporate sponsor
and support the fine young people who make up The Leadership Conservatory
for the Arts please call me at 727-943-4049 or email kford@tarponspringsband.com.
We look forward to sharing with you our program, our vision, and
our future results.
Sincerely,
Kevin Ford
