St. Petersburg, FL and Atlanta, GA - The Tarpon
Springs Outdoor Performance Ensemble performing their new original
2007 show "En Garde", earned top honors in their
AA Class in both the St. Petersburg Regional BOA competition on
October 13 and the Atlanta BOA Super Regionals on October 27. In
both events, the Tarpon Band was awarded Outstanding
Music Performance, Outstanding Visual Performance, and Outstanding
General Effect in their Class.
Proceding to Finals competition in both events,
Tarpon Springs placed 2nd overall in St. Petersburg behind the much
larger Kennesaw Mountain High School (GA) and placed 3rd in Atlanta.
The Atlanta Finals were won by Carmel High School from Indiana,
always a high-placing competitor. Tarpon Springs was the only AA
band who advanced to Finals competition in the Atlanta Super Regionals.
Director Kevin Ford commented on the 2007 BOA
season, "En Garde was one of the most technically and
musically difficult shows that this band has ever performed. Our
students take great pride not only in their accomplishments as an
ensemble, but also in the effort that they invest individually to
achieve. It has been a great season!"
