Marching
Band Represents Florida at BOA Grand Nationals
Earns National Finalist Ranking...
November 16, 2008
Indianapolis, Indiana - Building off of a 1st place finish
in BOA Florida Regionals in Orlando in October, the 120 marching
band students of the Tarpon Springs Leadership Conservatory of the
Arts earned national finalist ranking at the Bands of America Grand
Nationals at the new Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana
on November 15, 2008. Competing against 90 bands from around the
country, Tarpon Springs, the only band from the state of Florida,
advanced through the preliminary competion on Friday to the semi-finals
on Saturday morning. Tarpon was one of twelve (12) bands that ultimately
advanced to the finals on Saturday night, among some of the largest
and most accomplished bands in the nation.
Drawing the
11th performance slot, Tarpon Springs presented their final performance
of Art at the Speed of Life before 35,000 attendees at 10:30
p.m. in the Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts NFL
team. Tarpon Springs proudly finished in 7th place of the original
90 bands.
We want to
exend a sincere THANK YOU to all of our corporate and individual
supporters, parents, and instructors who graciously contributed
their time, effort, and money to make this wonderful experience
possible for our students. Without you, this nationally accomplished
program that focuses on character and integrity in our students
could not provide these life-changing experiences for our youth!
